Camping Water
Filters

|
Many people say that a camping water
filter is one of the best investments you
can make.
The main reason being that using a
water filter while camping will help you
avoid water born parasites and diseases.
Modern Water filters designed for camping
will dispose of most of the parasites and
diseases that threaten to spoil your trip.

Even the cheapest water filter will usually get rid of
giardia and cryptosporidium, and for only a few pounds more you
can remove many other bacteria and protozoa and allow you to
relax and enjoy your outdoor adventures.
Beyond healthy guts I have another "weighty" reason for
using a water filter while camping, hiking or backpacking.
A camping water filter weighs a mere fraction of the
hefty 1kg per litre of water and even good camping water
filters for are relatively cheap. So using a good water
filter when camping will help you make the most of your
expensive lightweight camping gear too.
I've spent years in the outdoors. Before getting my
first camping water filter, I'd had my share of bad guts from
risking a quick sip from some sparkling stream.
Here's some thoughts on Water Treatment
Options
I would like to help you avoid belly ache or worse so
on this site I've selected what I
believe are the best water filter systems designed for the
outdoors. Some of the filter water
bottle & pump water filters
systems we recommend are listed below, click on
the images below for more information
Of for the full selection check out the menu to the

Whether you're camping, backpacking, hiking or indulging
your passion for outdoor adventures and sports having a source
of reliable water is critical. Personally, I've come to rely on
my camping water filter like no other piece of kit.
Sure when you're hot and sweaty, it's so tempting to sip
that clear bubbling water as it gurgles, but unless you're
happy to wake up in 48 hours with terrible gut ache, vomiting
and worse -- I'd recommend you invest in the best filter you
can afford.
All of the systems listed here are great and will provide
years of outstanding service - you could see it as travel
insurance, but, it would be unfair to not tell you my own
favourites.
Of all the systems I've tried over the years these two are
the ones I'd recommend you invest in - The Katadyn Hiker is one
of the most popular camping water filter systems
on market, because it is so reliable. Whereas the
Lifesaver bottle range I'm told is becoming a
favourite of the military - who probably have to drink water
we'd avoid like the plague - so the lifesaver bottle
filter does more than simply filter water - it saves
lives.
Before good camp water filters were readily available and
affordable many people relied on chemical treatment alone. But
who likes using chemicals - especially in the outdoors.
A camping filter are a great alternative to
chemical purification with chlorine or iodine and will
filter out a whole host of parasites, diseases and the good
ones have filters with pores so small they'll filter out
viruses from your drinking water.
So if you're someone who loves the camping outdoors and
values your health then have a look through the selection that
we've chosen for you, pick a filter that suits your
needs then when it arrives get out and enjoy the
outdoors. The knowledge that you've got a camping water
filter to hand will mean you can relax and enjoy your trip.
Have fun camping, leave no trace, and take nothing but
photos,
Dave.
